Whelcon Contractors LLC is proud to introduce its new scholarship program, dedicated to supporting students in their pursuit of higher education. This scholarship program reflects Whelcon’s ongoing commitment to investing in the future by easing the financial burden for students pursuing college degrees. By encouraging academic excellence and providing meaningful support, Whelcon is honored to play a role in helping students reach their full potential. Please see full scholarship details below.

Award Range: $500 – $5,000

Deadline to Apply: August 15th at 5:00 PM 

Application Submission

Eligibility

All Applicants must meet the following:

      • Must be the child/grandchild of an active, full-time employee at the time of application. Active employees must have been employed +1 year at the deadline of application.
      • Must be 25 years or younger
      • Must be planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year college/university, or vocational-technical school for the entire upcoming academic year
      • Must be a full-time undergraduate student for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Requirements

All applicants must submit the following to be considered for the scholarship:

      • High school/college transcripts (must include student name, school name, grades, credit hours, and term for each course taken)
      • SAT or ACT scores (if available)
      • Essay response to prompts

*Applications are not considered complete unless required materials are submitted.

Essay Prompts

Essay #1: Statement of your academic and career goals. (200-word maximum)
Essay #2: How have you demonstrated and participated in leadership roles in your school and community? (200-word maximum)
Essay #3: Character-based essay (500-word maximum)
Essay #4: What is the current impact AI is having on the construction industry and what does this imply for the future of construction? (500-word maximum)
Optional: Hardship Essay (500-word maximum)

Selection of Recipients and Awards

If selected as a recipient, the student will receive an award ranging from $500 to $5,000. The Whelcon Scholarship Award has a total of $10,000 available for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Recipients are selected based on the following:

      • Academic record strength
      • Demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities
      • Work experience
      • Inspiring educational and career goals and objectives
      • Unusual personal or family circumstances
      • Essay responses

*Awards are not renewable, but students may reapply for the program each year they meet eligibility requirements. Whelcon Contractors LLC will process the scholarship payments on behalf of the student by paying the academic institution directly.
